Effective August 31, 2026, the MSU Sexual Assault Healthcare Program (SAHP) will provide in-person services from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. Nurses remain available by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to discuss care options and provide support at 517-353-2700.
SAHP continues to offer free, confidential services to adults who have experienced sexual assault within the past five days. Survivors are supported by specially trained forensic nurses and advocates who provide information, resources, and guidance to help individuals make informed decisions about their care.
Crisis support remains available 24/7 through the Center for Survivors hotline at 517-372-6666.
MSU remains committed to supporting survivors and is working toward restoring 24/7 in-person SAHP services as funding and staffing allow.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners conduct a specialized examination that may include:
- Collection of medical forensic histories
- A physical examination
- Treatment for injury
- Emergency contraception, preventative treatment for sexually transmitted infections
- Recommendations for follow-up care
- If a patient agrees, forensic evidence is also collected through the use of a sexual assault evidence kit (commonly referred to as a rape kit)
- Advocates from the Center for Survivors will be available to support the patient and assist with connecting them to resources and supportive services.
