SACI E-Board

Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention (SACI) Team is a registered student organization comprised of undergraduate and graduate students as well as community-member volunteers who are active in the movement against gendered violence. SACI members have been trained to provide advocacy to survivors of sexual violence. Members can be trained to help staff a  24-hour crisis line, crisis chat, and peer educators. The group works with the MSU Sexual Assault Program to provide support, empathy, and information to survivors of gendered violence. SACI delivers assistance to those who have been traumatized by sexual assault and coordinates programs that focus on awareness and prevention. To find out more information regarding volunteers opportunities please visit our Volunteering page!

SACI’s outreach activities include providing safe spaces for events on and around campus and going to resource fairs to spread the word about the MSU Sexual Assault Program. SACI is also involved in Take Back the Night, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and MSU Women’s Leadership Conference.

Meet the 2018-19 SACI Executive Board!

PRESIDENT

Taylor is an Animal Science and Communications double major with minors in Dance, Educational Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies. This is her 4th year on SACI, 3rd year on E-board, and 1st year as president! Her favorite part about SACI is being able to work with an incredible team of people to support survivors in her community. Outside of SACI, Taylor enjoys ballroom dancing and working in the Holekamp Lab studying hyena behavior!

VICE PRESIDENT

I am a graduate student in the Masters in Social Work program here at MSU, and although I’m new to MSU I have definitely fallen in love with the Spartan campus and students. I originally joined SACI as part of my internship at the Sexual Assault Program, but found myself enjoying the community and the work that we do as SACI members so much that I wanted to continue volunteering even after my internship ended! Outside of SACI and school, I love to take my dogs on hikes, binge watch every TV show available on Netflix and Hulu, and hang out with my friends.

SECRETARY

Bio updating soon!

TREASURER

Greetings!  My name is Madeline Van Eck and I am excited to be the treasurer for SACI!  I am going into my senior year at Michigan State, studying a double-major in Women’s and Gender Studies and Human Biology with a minor in Bioethics.  I joined SACI last summer and am so proud to be a part of a team that actively works to change the culture and seeks to eliminate sexual assault and domestic and relationship violence.  I am also a volunteer with the Capital Area Response Effort (CARE) to provide crisis counseling and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, as well as a planning committee member for this past year’s Take Back The Night event.  In the future, I plan to continue my advocacy into the medical field through working in women’s clinics to provide health care services to underserved populations both local and abroad.

POLITICAL OUTREACH CHAIR

My name is Harli Wood and I am SACI’s Political Outreach Chair. I’m a Psychology major with a minor in Entrepreneurship. After I graduate, I plan on attending law school. With my degrees I hope to work with Universities and/or the Department of Education on drafting and amending policies and legislation with the aim of improving the experiences of survivors and reducing sexual assault incidences at colleges. I’m from Jackson, Wyoming and I love to be outside as much as possible. In my free time I like to read, nap, or go on picnics.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH CHAIR

Hi! My name is Riti Singh and I am senior pursuing a Neuroscience major. After graduating I hope to attend medical school. I recently completed my SACI training this past spring (2018) and am very excited for all the opportunities to come! SACI is an amazing program that I am so happy to be a part of. Sexual violence is an enormous problem that affects everyone, so bringing about awareness and working to make a difference is something that is very important to me. Alongside volunteering and advocating for survivors, I love to dance and am part of a dance team here at MSU called Spartan Zaariya! I also love to read and travel!
